What is a database driven website
If you want to have a webiste that users can login to then it will be database driven. This is because when users register to a website, all of their details get inserted into a database. These details can then be pulled from the database when required. A good example of this is if you were to have a shop on your website, you would need to know users name and address, and what items they have ordered. You might also want to create a newsletter to send out to your users each month; this would be done by sending emails out to all of your registered users, whos email address’ would be stored on the database. As a result of the complexity involved in database driven websites, they take longer to create, and therefore cost a bit more. What hosting package do I need?
If your website requirements only consists of text and images and a handful of pages, you’ll only need the smallest package. This is because text and images are small in size and therefore wouldn’t use much bandwidth at all. Bandwidth is the amount of traffic that goes through your website, so if you have 10 images at 1MB each, and a user viewed all the images on your website, they would create 10MB of bandwidth. If 100 users did this, they would create 1000MB (1GB) of bandwidth.
If you want to host videos or other types of media that are large in file size, and you expect a high amount of users, then you’ll want to choose one of the larger hosting packages.
